About EFNEP in Hillsborough
According to the American Community Survey (ACS 2022), nearly 1.5 million people live in Hillsborough County. Roughly 13% of the population experience poverty (ACS 2022).
According to Feeding Tampa Bay (2020), there are over 200,000 food insecure children in the Greater Tampa Area, about 19% of the population. The majority of youth aged 5-18 are enrolled in the Hillsborough County School District, which is the 8th largest school district in the United States (National Center for Education Statistics 2015). Of those schools, 160 sites are designated Title 1 schools (Hillsborough County School District 2019).

Adult Programing
Adults
EFNEP offers adult programs, typically nine sessions long and held in a community setting.
Adult programs incorporate relevant nutrition information to help families eat better food for less money. Small group sizes allow EFNEP educators to tailor each class for their audience. Participants connect with one another in hands-on activities and group discussion.
All EFNEP classes include interactive food demonstrations of easy and delicious recipes. Also, each lesson comes with a lesson enhancement and a tool designed to help participants adopt a healthy lifestyle.

Youth Programing
Youth
Youth programming is offered in several Title 1 schools around the County as well as with community partners, including City of Tampa and Hillsborough County Parks & Recreation sites. Youth ages 5-18 are eligible to participate in 4-h EFNEP. we also partner with teen parenting programs around the County.
